Queen Marians participate in a Robotics Workshop
AI, Robotics and Coding Lessons
As the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has placed a significant thrust on robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) by formally introducing them into its curriculum from the 2023 academic session onwards and initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, that aims to equip students with critical 21st-century technological skills, the students of Queen Mary's School are also being initiated and being offered Robotics and AI workshops. These subjects can be chosen as formal, separate subjects for students in Classes XI and XII (ISC level).
Integrated Learning (Elementary & Secondary):
For younger students, elements of AI and coding are being integrated into the existing computer science curriculum. They were introduced at the ICSE level (Classes IX and X) from the 2023 academic year under the combined subject code 66.
Collaboration with IIT Delhi:
The syllabus for these subjects was developed in collaboration with the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Delhi, to ensure the curriculum is contemporary and skill-based.
Focus on Practical Skills:
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, practical projects, and the use of specific hardware like single-board computers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and various robotics components. This approach aims to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation rather than rote memorization.
The introduction of robotics is intended to prepare students for a future where these technologies play a pivotal role in various industries, including data science, automation, and software development.
Future Readiness:
It helps students understand the technologies shaping the future and prepares them for high-demand careers.
Skill Development:
The hands-on nature of robotics projects nurtures a creative mindset, problem-solving skills, and teamwork abilities, which are crucial in real-world work settings.
Alignment with NEP 2020:
The move aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy, which advocates for a more holistic, skill-oriented education system.
